Winter Family Bike Ride

Gather around Vellucci Fountain near Cambridgeside

Join us for the 2nd Annual Winter Family Bike Ride!  The Winter Ride date and time is announced a few days before.   We will be watching the weather forecast and selecting a Saturday or Sunday between January and March with a high temperature and good ground conditions.      A short safe ride from Cambridge to Boston's Esplanade where we will play on playground(s) and enjoy some surprise treats.

Parents must accompany children at all times.

There is no fee to register, event is open to public, donations are encouraged to support Family Bike Ride operations.   We are a parent organized group with expenses!

Sample Schedule, subject to change:

11:00AM Optional: arrive early and purchase food from Canalside Food Hall (they have some kid friendly options.   Food can be eaten either inside hall or there are some outside tables near the gathering spot.  Bring your helmets in so we can spot each other.   

12:00AM Gather around the fountain

12:15PM-12:30PM The ride is a mere 1.4 miles with no auto crossings, it does involve riding in a on street bike lane for some portion.   If you are uncomfortable for yourself or your child there is the option of riding on sidewalk so long as the rider generously yields to pedestrians.    Please ride slow, yield to pedestrians, stay to the right, give space to other riders, pass on the left.    Parents please coach your kids in these rules.  

12:30PM to whenever play at the a park, we may also park hop and head to Stoneman Playground after a bit.   Enjoy surprise treats.  

Ride back on your own when it makes sense for your family or we may have an official ride back.
